WDAAZ 2026 Awards Qualifications

There are two sets of awards:

  • Virtual shows 
  • Live Shows 

 

These awards are for the Western Dressage division only.

Must be a member in good standing of both WDAAZ and WDAA.  Non-members may enter and show for test scores.

Categories:

− Amateur: Intro through Level 5

− Open: Intro through Level 5

− Junior: Overall

 

Level Championships may be earned for Intro, Basic, and Level 1-5.  Virtual Requirements : Your 4 highest test scores (from 2 separate judges) will be averaged for a final score.  Live Requirements : Your 6 highest scores (from 2 separate judges) will be averaged for a final score.  Ties will be broken by total score in Collective Remarks.

 

Combined Level Championship awards may be earned for Virtual or Live events.  This opportunity is given to encourage riders to "ride up a level".

 

Virtual requirements:  You must ride in a least 2 of the 3 WDAAZ virtual shows.  The 2 highest scores from your 2 consecutive levels (for a total of 4 scores, at least 2 from each level) will be used toward the Combined Level Championship.  Your scores must be from at least 2 different judges to qualify.  A maximum of 3 scores per show will be applied, no more than 2 scores from each level.  For example, you ride 2 Intro and 2 Basic tests for one show.  The 3 highest scores from your 4 tests will be applied towards the Combined Level Championship.  Another example is you ride 3 Intro tests and 2 Basic for a show.  Only 2 of the Intro tests will be eligible for use towards the Championship.

High Point for each virtual show will be awarded to the single highest score Junior or Amateur winner.

 

Live requirements:  You must ride in at least 3 of the 5 WDAAZ live shows.  The 2 highest scores from your 2 consecutive levels (for a total of 6 scores, at least 2 from each level) will be used towards the Combined Level Championship.  Your scores must be from at least 2 different judges to qualify.  A maximum of 3 scores per show will be applied, no more than 2 scores from each level.  For example, you ride 2 Intro and 2 Basic tests for one show.  The 3 highest scores from your 4 tests will be applied towards the Combined Level Championship.  Another example is that you ride 3 Intro tests and 2 Basic for a show.  Only 2 of the Intro tests will be eligible for use towards the Championship.

High Point for each live show will be awarded per level, whether Junior, Amateur or Open.

 

There must be at least 2 qualified riders in a division or a score average of 65% or over to award a buckle
